Vancouver Transit Advisory Committee members on their 2010 walking tour
The 23-member Vancouver Transit Advisory
Committee (VTAC) was formed in 2010 by the
CRC project, the City of Vancouver and
C-TRAN to advise the project on light rail
design in Vancouver. VTAC members included
property owners along the Vancouver light
rail alignment, surrounding neighborhood and
business associations, transit-dependent
populations, commuters and design-oriented
specialists.
Committee Recommendations
VTAC made recommendations on:
- Design elements for Vancouver light
rail stations and streetscape options.
- Design themes for the three park and
ride facilities.
Creating a Conceptual Design Report
Recommendations made by VTAC are included in a
Conceptual Design Report
and used by CRC, C-TRAN and the City of Vancouver staff to guide future
development of light rail in Vancouver. This committee advanced the light rail
alignment decision of the Vancouver City Council and the C-TRAN Board of
Directors and made recommendations that captured community preferences for the
design and aesthetics of stations, streetscape, park and rides, and security.
