The Columbia River Crossing project team is currently refining designs for
each of the project’s components based on public and local partner agency input.
Work in 2009 includes:
- Selecting a
bridge type
- Engineering a replacement I-5 bridge based on CRC Project Sponsors Council recommendation
- Refining
light rail route through downtown Vancouver, based on CRC Vancouver Working Group alignment recommendation.

Meeting with community members to help design light rail stations and park and rides in downtown Vancouver
- Receiving recommendations from the
Portland Working Group on community connections
and design for the Hayden Island light rail station
- Continuing design on improved
pedestrian and bicycle facilities

Updating cost estimates
- Researching tolling options, gathering public opinion and developing a
finance plan
- Selecting an interchange option for
Marine Drive
- Talking with communities to hear concerns and provide information
- Reviewing public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement
(EIS) and writing the Final EIS
