Question & Answer Sessions: Number of Lanes
January 2009
The CRC project held two question and answer sessions on the number of
add/drop lanes in the project area.
These sessions provided attendees with opportunities to:
- Learn about add/drop lane purpose and potential safety, traffic and
environmental effects of the eight, 10, and 12 lane scenarios
- Hear how decisions will be made for the number of add/drop lanes
- Ask questions
- Provide thoughts to project staff
A replacement I-5 bridge will have three “through” lanes in each direction
and up to three lanes in each direction to connect interchanges in the five-mile
project area. These connector lanes are known as add/drop or auxiliary lanes. No
add/drop lanes are proposed north or south of the project area (SR 500 to
Columbia Boulevard).
